It is always an exciting time when an artist starts a new work of art. Trying to overcome the initial complexities of narrative, light and shade and colour and composition, is such an important part of the process. There is just something so magical about seeing the great artists studies, to witness them thinking through these problems in every quick spontaneous brushstroke. Seeing through the layers of the technical process is like watching a lifetime of artistic practice and experience come to life on the canvas, a true privilege.
I hope I can share some of that enjoyment through 'Three Angels', a preliminary study for a larger painting in progress.
