John Afflicks work is often based around a spiritual theme or carries a moral narrative, but on occasions he likes to visit a common religious theme directly from scripture, as in this work, 'The Disrobing Of Christ'.  The calm serenity in the face of Christ is wonderfully contrasted with the claustrophobic intensity of the grotesque and animated crowd. The small scale of the work also adds to the visual unease of the image. A beautiful, detailed representation of the subject.
