This is a preliminary drawing for the painting 'Castitas', one of seven artworks exploring the vices and virtues, a framework used by the early church and that of the middle ages to promote the teaching of moral theology.
This preliminary was inspired by the Great Master drawings of the renaissance and was produced using a black pencil on toned cartridge paper often using an eraser to remove a portion of the toned ground to bring out the highlights in the image.
This technique has a beautiful timeless quality, and will be a fantastic addition to any art collection, but particularly for the collector who appreciates the wonderful preliminary drawings of the Great Masters.
