John Afflick sometimes produces artworks with a subversive or underlying message, sometimes with a  simple representation of an angelic being and occasionally, as in this case, with a humorous or light hearted narrative. 'Rembrandt At The Bar' seems to  be an image of whimsical wishful thinking by the artist to have once shared a nice pint and good old chat with someone he greatly admired.
